Hi Sam,
I will go to Beijing Renda for the CGSS advisory board meeting 2/17-22 but won't have time to go to GZ in this trip. But I will go to Zhongda to give a seminar during the summer, preferably in early June before Chinese students' summer vacation. Is it possible to coordinate a reunion with everyone?

   The Uganda trip was very tough and this was my first trip to Africa. It took me a whole week to get my health back to normal (throw-ups, stomachaches, coughs).
   I am leading the planning of a collaborative project on the impact of biomedical interventions on marriage and family in Rakai, Uganda (a district with high HIV/AIDS infection rates). I visited the health program there (the JHU is a major player since 1994). I then did fieldwork including visiting villages, interviewing community leaders, and home visiting to peasant families. I also took a weekend to do a safari.

大意如下：
Hi Sam，
   我将在(今年)2/17-22号去北京<人民大学>参加一个  CGSS 咨询委员会会议，但此行不会有时间去广州了。不过在6月初，席中國学生暑假期间，我将回广州<中大>主持一个夏季研讨会。(利用此機会)是否可以协调与大家聚会？

乌干达此行是非常艰难的，这是我第一次到非洲。回來后，我花了整整一个星期让我的身体恢复正常（嘔吐，肚痛，咳嗽）。

在乌干达的 Rakai (一个艾滋病毒/艾滋病感染率高危的乡村地区)，我指导一个关于婚姻和家庭與生物医学干预的影响的合作项目规划。我参观了当地的健康计划（该计划自1994年開展以來，是我们合作项目的主要參與者）。我做了实地考察，包括参观的村庄，社区领袖会面，并到农民家庭进行家访。我也利用一个周末參观了一个野生动物园。

看到这段消息的同学、朋友，是否应設好好考慮一下：在6月组织个聚会与分別多年的老同学见下面，六月份李老師应该还未回美，正好一齐見下，(她本人可能因为工作的关係冇时间去組织联係)。尤其关天慧，同床同捞，老友兼死黨；还有譚芷青，同在二中过檔三中的老同学，幾番托我联系她；现在人将要回"娘家"了，还有陈啓子、苏瑞冰等姊妹们，如果可能的話，尽量抽D时间回來一聚，一訴別离情幾好。

同郝教授倾偈不存在任何压力，嘻嘻哈哈尤如当年一樣。不提她的專业你跟本不覺她大有名堂，当正佢係隔鄰屋的郝師奶就啱啱好。讲起食佢都好精神，不过，提起令她眉飞色舞的中国美食，可怜佢除了10分钟之內能搞惦的餸菜外，其他的烹飪技术只有小学生程度。得过且过的一日三餐委屈了自己的中国胃多年了。我睇亦無须山珍海味，有水准的云吞麪、拉腸粉已经够佢暈得一阵阵啦。

Hi Sam,Rakai is a rural area in Uganda, north of Tanzania and west of LakeVictoria.Could you suggest me any software to organize the photos? I never dothat before and may not have time to do so. Let me know a good methodand I will ask my research assistant to do it.The purpose of the photos is not to show me but show the place.Thanks,Lingxin

   想请教下 Rakai 是否乌干达的一个地方？城市？还是一个组织机构？
   另外，你D相片要遂张打开才能看到，麻烦死了。有冇其他法子能够整个相册一次过取下來看或用幻灯片的方式來欣赏。因为你此行的相片咁多，睇左个几钟都唔见边张有你本尊现身。
